Database optimisation

Disclaimer: always have a backup before doing any kind of optimisation to your website. Sometimes things break, so it’s important to have a save point to go back to.

If you’re updating your website regularly, it’s likely you have lots of rows in your database which aren’t being used anymore.

These can come from plugins you no longer use, old revisions of pages, spam comments, just to name a few.

These rows which aren’t even being used can slow down your database, and in turn slow down your page speed.

Luckily there are plugins which can optimise your database for you so you don’t need to go in and delete these rows manually.

If you’re using WP Rocket, then head into the database section and follow the instructions there.

If you’d like a free option, WP-Optimize is a widely used solution.
